Week 1: Project Launch

Week one of the project and we are off and racing Sam and Isaac have been busy getting the ground work done for Submergence. Isaac has been busy creating the water shader and depth effects. while Sam has been busy creating the item\inventory system and player interaction so the player can get the glorious treasure.

I made the water shader using Unity's Shader Graph, with 6 panning normal maps blended together to get a 'hard-to-spot' tiling effect on the water. I have also managed to add a depth fade for the water as well. In addition to the shader, I have also made the boat model and textured it, pictured to the left of the image.

Sam Carey
I began by creating some of the basic game systems. These simple systems included player interaction, item pickups, inventory and selling items. These systems have a lot of customisability built in allowing new interactions to be created without writing any additional code. This factor should speed up future development.

i have been playing around with the post processing in unity to create a transition from above the water to underneath
giving the ocean a bit more of an underwater feel which is shown in the above GIF.
