Week 5: Getting ready for testing
This week we will be getting the last touches on the prototype to show in the testing. The team will be working on finishing up the last of the functionality to the game and fleshing out the world.
Sam Carey
Swimming
We now finally have a first person swimming system implemented. Alongside this the oxygen system was setup to drain while underwater.
Breaking Walls
Created a loose wall section that the player can only break if they have a crow bar. This feature takes advantage of the previously developed interaction system. It was important to consider efficiency by cleaning up the broken pieces to prevent lag due to the large number of physics objects.
Tutorials
Began to work on a set of ingame tutorials which will teach testers how to play. These will include game objective, movement controls and dangers to watch out for.
Isaac
We managed to fix up some collision issues with the ships we want the player to explore, meaning that we no longer need custom convex meshes overlaid on the models. Fixing up some art assets, including the island store will be my focus for the week, as well as attempting to get a highlight material to display through walls.
